ORT TRAINING, new recruits.

River Athletes,

We have had several inquiries lately regarding joining our small clan of whitewater warriors, so here's a quick Q+A.

Do you need prior experience?
No.

Do you have to make every practice and every race?
No, but we do take attendance and those who are more committed will more likely be chosen for the Red Team.

How many crews/teams do you have?
We have enough equipment to run 3 teams (18 paddlers) per race.

What do I need to bring?
Synthetic type under layers (fleece, wool socks, under armour, etc), sneakers, gas money, nylon sweat pants or similar,
--we have extra pfds, helmets, splash tops but if you do have river gear bring it.

What kind of things can I do to get in shape for paddling?
Sustained cardio exercise of some type(swimming, running, cycling, martial arts) for 30 minutes, weight training, stretching especially yoga, eating well.

What is the practice schedule?
We have a practice or race every Saturday from 3-22-2008 to 6-14-2008.
We may even throw a Sunday practice in on occassion.
We also get out once at 6pm during the week on the Willamette, meeting at a parking area about 300 meters downstream from OMSI. Days vary to accommodate, will have to keep an eye on your email.

We always are looking for more paddlers, questions or interest contact Tim at (503)830-0630.
